Jill was born Dec. 20, 1974 in Stockton, CA to Thomas and Judith (McLeod) Ford. She grew up in Stockton, CA, Houston, TX, Charlotte, NC, Phoenix, AZ and Irvine, CA where she graduated from University High School. Jill then moved to Overland Park in 1992 and attended Johnson County Community College while working at St. Thomas Episcopal Preschool. Jill married Darin Ramsdell in Overland Park, KS on June 1, 1996. They moved to Gardner in 2002. Jill’s greatest source of joy was her children: Juliet, Logan, Malory and Tyson. Jill enjoyed volunteering at their school, their many extra-curricular activities, sports and she served as a Girl Scout Daisy Troop Leader.
Jill’s jobs included Blue Chip Cookies in Leawood, Crème-de-la-crème in Overland Park and finally, joyfully, as an Early Childhood Paraeducator for eight years at Moonlight Elementary in Gardner, where all four of her children attended. When Jill’s oncologist advised her to quit working at the school, Jill, never a quitter, signed on to sell Rodan + Fields skincare line. Jill also enjoyed attending New Life Church, Gardner, KS.
Jill lived the “it takes a village” philosophy, in that she delighted in social activities with her neighborhood besties, her abundance of loyal friends and all of their children. Jill was passionate about reading – especially near a window, where she could watch birds on her many feeders. Her favorite bird was the hummingbird. A special hobby of Jill’s, when in California, was walking along the beach searching for sea shells and sea glass.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Judith, in 1994 and husband, Darin, in 2017. Jill is survived by her children: Juliet-20, Logan-17, Malory-14, Tyson-11 and her father Thomas Ford, all of Gardner, KS; brother, Scott Ford, Overland Park, KS and sister, Julie Ford Reister, Newport Beach, CA and in-laws Bob and Debbie Ramsdell, Gardner, KS.
Jill’s smile and positive outlook were contagious. In her words, “you’ve just got to keep on keepin’ on!”
