Naim George Bitar, 90, of Shawnee, KS passed away March 28, 2019 at Advent Health Systems. Visitation will be held 10:00 Tue., April 2, 2019 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Naim was born Sept. 11, 1928 in Idlib, Syria to George and Olga (Khouri) Bitar. He married Farida Jarjour in Damascus, Syria in 1955. Naim came to the US in 1989 and became a US citizen in 2000. He lived in Wichita before retiring in Shawnee to be near family. Naim worked as a translator/diplomat for the Spanish Embassy for 25 years. He loved politics. Naim was the best dad ever and family was very important to him, especially spending time with grandchildren. Naim was known to have a “sweet tooth.” He will be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, George Bitar; siblings: Afdoc Bitar, John Bitar, and Albert Bitar. Naim is survived by his wife, Farida, of the home; son, Ghattas and wife Stacey Bitar, Spring Hill, KS and daughter, Raja Bitar and husband Tony Bazo, Montreal, Canada; siblings: Victor Bitar, Phoenix, AZ and Montaha Bitar, Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren: Naim, Alfrida, Peter, Paul, Maria, and Elijah; great-grandchild, Jessa.
